Backdrop

Refunds and payment support

Effective date: September 29, 2026. Revision: 2026-09-29.

14 days, no questions asked

You don’t need to give a reason.

How to ask

Use Withdraw from contract here: fill in your name and purchase email and confirm. The page shows when your withdrawal was received, and a confirmation is emailed to the address you gave. Or email backdrop.support@proton.me from the email address you used at checkout, or include that address in your message. If you’ve bought more than once, say which purchase you mean. Never send your activation code or card details.

  1. I reply to confirm, usually within two business days.
  2. I issue the refund through Link, and Link emails you a confirmation.
  3. The money goes back to the payment method you used, in the currency you paid, including any tax. Banks usually show it within 3 to 7 business days.

You can also ask Link directly through Link support. If you’re a consumer in the EU or the UK, Link also offers a 14-day cooling-off period from when you get access: ask Link support for a refund and give “cooling off period” as the reason.

What happens to your license

A full refund deactivates the license, whoever issues it. Backdrop stops accepting the license at its next check with the license service, then restores any windows it hid. Your projects and settings stay on your Mac.

Refunding a subscription charge in full also ends the subscription: it’s cancelled automatically, so you aren’t charged again. A partial refund or price reduction leaves it active. If you’d rather keep using Backdrop until the end of the month, cancel instead of asking for a refund.

Cancelling a subscription

Cancel anytime at app.link.com, or from Backdrop Settings → License → Manage or cancel subscription. You won’t be charged again, and Backdrop keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Cancelling doesn’t refund the current month by itself. If that charge was in the last 14 days and you want it back, ask for a refund as above.

Unrecognized charges and chargebacks

Backdrop purchases appear on your statement starting with LINK.COM*. If you don’t recognize a charge or something went wrong, contact me or Link first; a refund is usually faster than a chargeback.

If you dispute a charge with your bank, Stripe handles the dispute, and the license is suspended while the dispute is open. If the dispute ends in your favor, the license stays deactivated, as with a refund.

If your code didn’t arrive

You never need to buy again because an email went missing. Recover your code with your purchase email, or email support.

Your legal rights

This policy adds to your rights under consumer law and doesn’t limit them. For example, if Backdrop is faulty or not as described, you may have rights beyond 14 days under Swedish and EU rules for digital content. Link’s refund policy also applies, and Link can issue refunds within 60 days of purchase in some cases.
